I will not be able to come to Trenton to complete week 4, step 4 unfortunately.

Just jumped into week 4, part 2 by playing with Pandora a bit. Now that is a site I could find myself spending way too much time at! So far I created a Keane station, a Richard Marx station and a Billy Joel station, and have several others I am looking forward to making. I have Rhapsody, but there is always room for more music in my life! I am looking forward to exploring the other sites listed.

Tonight I signed up on Delicious. I can see the convenience of bookmarking on a site like this as I move between several computers on a regular basis. I would be able to access bookmarks I make in the children's office from home, or the reference desk, as I need them. I also like that there is a privacy option included.

I added the craft site http://www.dltk-kids.com to my Delicious account. It is a great resource, plenty of crafts for a variety of topics.

My Heart Is Like a Zoo - Book Trailer

So I went on last night and downloaded The Cat Ate My Gymsuit from Digital Library NJ. (what we have instead of Listen NJ) We actually had a training class within the last year on the service, in anticipation of offering Nook readers for circulation in the future. One of our adult librarians had been conducting e reader classes for the public as well. I do think the site might be a bit daunting to patrons at first, but with assistance, Digital Library will catch on fast. Our library has already purchased extra e book titles for our patrons to deal with growing demand.

Spent a bit of time poking around Choice Books today. While I create my own lists based on the library collection, it's always good to know another reader's advisory resource.

Hey, I created a nifty little bookshelf widget on Shelfari after trying it out tonight. Scroll down and check out a few of my favorite picture books. I will play more tomorrow, the laundry is calling......

Week 2! I have never used Library Thing, Good Reads or Shelfari and am looking forward to giving them a try. I will post more once I get a chance to play around with them a bit! I have been looking for our department to start highlighting new fiction titles online, so maybe one of these could be my answer....

Meet Chocolate Cake!

Here is a pic of the deceivingly innocent looking Chocolate Cake, my Siamese cat. I used Picnik to crop and soften the pic before adding the crown and text. I have used photo editing before, but only to do basics like crop, resize and remove red eye. This might be fun to use on fliers at work, but I may look at some of the other sites listed as many of the fun add ons for Picnik seem to be reserved for the premium users.

So the next challenge was to post a pic and write about my experience doing so. I have chosen a pic of one of my favorite places on earth, LBI. If you have not been, go...it is so relaxing there. Some day I would love to own a home there, but for now I just visit as often as I can. It was very easy to post the pic. I found the process very similar to posting pics to my Facebook, which I use all the time.

Learning to blog..

For the last several years I have have been working minimal hours and I need to bring my tech skills up to par with what they were when I worked full time. Setting up this account was quite easy. I hope the rest of the challenge goes this well! I feel I would most use a blog at work to talk about upcoming programs and new book offerings.
